We live in Indian Land, South Carolina which is not far from Fort Mill. And, something new is coming for pizza and ice cream lovers in the South Carolina town of Fort Mill. Plus, if you enjoy New York style pizza in particular, you're in luck. According to a Facebook post, a business called Center Theatre Pizza & Ice Cream is opening on Main St.
And, to be exact, Center Theatre Pizza & Ice Cream plans to occupy the space formerly home to Emmet's Social Table. The spot known for innovative shareable dishes announced their closing this summer. We enjoy the original location of Emmet's in Waxhaw. But, Emmet's owners seemed to indicate the concept just didn't work out in Fort Mill.
So, hopefully this new pizza and ice cream concept is what residents are looking for. And, in referencing the new Center Theatre Pizza & Ice Cream opening, Emmet's Social Table hinted at "keeping our eyes out for a larger spot." So, we'll do the same. But, for now we're excited for this new option for pizza and ice cream. After all, who doesn't love that combo?

Biggest Day For Ordering Pizza And Here’s Our North Carolina Favorites
The biggest day for ordering pizza fell on Super Bowl Sunday for many years. However, new reports show Halloween dethroned the big game day as the biggest day for orders across the nation. If you think about it, that makes sense. Everyone loves pizza, it's kid friendly and quick. So, it's a natural choice to fuel up on before a night of candy grabbing. Surprisingly though, the next most popular pizza night is Thanksgiving Eve. Anyway, in case you missed the announcement earlier this month, October is National Pizza month. It dates back to 1984. That's when the publisher of Pizza Today, Gerry Durnell, dubbed it as such. And, even though it's about to wrap up, why not plan to grab some delicious pizza before your trick-or-treating? There's fantastic pizza all over Charlotte and the surrounding areas and South Carolina, too. Don't let the biggest day for ordering pizza sneak up on you. Grab a slice. These are just a few of our favorites in no particular order!
Bisonte Pizza Co.
There's so much to love about Bisonte Pizza Co. It's family owned and operated by a couple of great guys. Brothers Jim and Steve DePolito know their way around pizza! They grew up in Buffalo, NY and brought their best family recipes with them to North Carolina. Everything from the sauce like their father made, to the dough, it's amazing. Once I start, I can't stop eating it! The brothers have over 40 years combined in the business, and it shows. Plus, they have award-winning wings. And, they are always giving back to the community and schools. They have locations on Trade St. in Charlotte, Chestnut Lane in Matthews, and Ardrey Kell Rd in Ballantyne. By the way, they tell us on the website that Bisonte means "buffalo" in Italian.
Johnny Tomatoes
Johnny Tomatoes at 5250 Old Charlotte Highway in Indian Trail is near Sun Valley High School. I can't remember how we stumbled onto it, but it was one of the best discoveries we ever made. They, of course, offer amazing pizza with that crispy crust we love and the freshest tasting ingredients. The sauce is to die for. And, the menu offers yummy appetizers, wings, sub sandwiches, pasta specialties and more. It's a must try!
New York Pizza Express
New York Pizza Express is a little spot on Potter Rd. in Matthews, North Carolina. Don't let the size of the building fool you, though. The flavor is big! It's a great spot for delivery and take out with all our favorite toppings, pasta dinners, subs and more. And the customer service is amazing. I remember one night calling in an order to grab on our way home. It was a few years ago during some gas shortage that made folks line up at stations and cause all sorts of traffic jams. Because of this, we were late getting there to pick up our pie. They felt so bad for us and wanted to ensure we had the best quality pizza. They insisted on remaking it for us so we could have a fresh pie! That made a bad day so much better!

Pepperonis Pizza
Pepperoni's at 6203 S. Rocky River Rd in Monroe, North Carolina came to us at the suggestion of a family member. When we used to live in Monroe, we passed by this little spot on our way home from the beach many times. We never thought to order from it until our family member told us how amazing it is. And, now I'm paying it forward by sharing the love and knowledge with you! Pepperoni's rocks some solid quality pizza. Plus they are "Home Of The Beast." The "Beast" by the way, is a 30-inch pizza! It's as incredible as it sounds. Make sure you bring some hungry folks with you!
The Exchange Pizza Depot
The Exchange Pizza Depot is new to Monroe, North Carolina. All our friends rave about it. So, it is next up on our must try spot. They opened this location at 217 Hayne St. in September. They also have another location on Trade St. in Matthews and one in Indian Trail as well. I'm excited to try them because the menu sounds so fun. There's lots of specialty pizzas, including this month's Pimento Cheese with pepperoni and banana peppers. Our friends rave about the "Pickle-ickle-ickle" that features dill pickles with mozzarella and a Southwestern cream sauce. So, it's definitely on our list!
Fuel Pizza
Fuel Pizza was one of the first pizza places we tried after moving to Charlotte in 2006. One of the locations is on South Blvd. near our office. Everyone raved about the incredible slices and how big and delicious they are. They were right! They are huge. And, they are delicious. They started in 1998 by some folks from New York craving the slice they couldn't find. It's in a cool 1930's gas station building. Besides South Blvd., you can find Fuel Pizza on Central Ave. and other locations in Charlotte as well. They also have a full menu with plenty to choose from!
