Anyone who lives or works in Charlotte knows the unmistakable look of the city buildings.  And, now Wells Fargo wants to add its name to a prominent building in the Charlotte skyline.  The tall building we once called the "Duke Energy" building is the space in question.  And, Wells Fargo asked city leaders for permission to put the bank's name atop this iconic part of Uptown.

According to WSOC-TV, the requested sign measures more than 1800 square feet.  Of course, it wouldn't be the first time a business put signage on a building.  Truist added their logo to the familiar Hearst Tower several years ago.  And, Wells Fargo has ties to the building they wish to put their name on.  You may remember Wachovia bank.  We used to be customers of the institution purchased by Wells Fargo.  And, the building, at one point, was going to be called Wachovia Corporate Center before the sale.

Then, Duke Energy located its main offices in the space for a while.  And, that's when we began calling it The Duke Energy Center.  However, the energy supplier left the space and now Wells Fargo plans to move into the majority of the building.  City leaders plan to make a decision on the request over the next few months.  For more see the full story on WSOC-TV.

We lived in quite a few cities over the years for our jobs.  And, Charlotte's skyline is one of the prettiest.  And, I enjoy the event related or seasonal light displays on the building as well.  We'll follow up to see what develops as Wells Fargo asks to be a part of the Charlotte skyline.
