BackStage Lounge Halloween Pop Up At SouthBound Is Open And We Visited
‘Tis the spooky season. And, we’re always on the hunt for unusual fun places to visit with friends. So, BackStage Lounge Halloween pop up at SouthBound felt like the perfect one to try. The pop up is hosted by Black Lagoon with plenty of fun and creative cocktails and small plates to fit the haunted theme.
What Is BackStage Lounge Halloween Pop Up?
Just to give you some background on how the BackStage lounge Halloween pop up operates. It’s kind of like a throwback to a speakeasy where it’s a bit hidden and you need a password to enter. So, although you may know about SouthBound and the restaurant, live music stage, etc. you may not know about the BackStage Lounge tucked away in back.
How BackStage Lounge Halloween Pop Up Works
I’ll save you some trouble searching for the entrance. It’s on the side where the barbershop is. In fact, you enter through the barbershop. And, no, it’s not a fake barbershop for the facade. It’s a legit barbershop. You find yourself in a tiny lobby type area with shredded bloody mummy gauze. And, there’s a large heavy door. But, you can’t open it. At least we couldn’t. There is an old phone on the wall. So, I picked it up and it started to ring. Then, the door opened for us. I’m thinking maybe they might have asked for the password if they hadn’t been incredibly busy. By the way, the up to date passwords are on their socials if anyone needs them.
What To Expect At BackStage Lounge
It’s not a huge space. But, it began to fill up quickly. There are some tables and cozy booths. But, otherwise it’s just standing and mingling. We were lucky to grab a booth. It was dimly lit and perfectly decorated with Harry Potter type candles suspended above the bar. There were a number of themed items to carry out the spookiness. I love the vibe. The cocktails had fun names like the “Creature Feature” and “Silent Scream.” And the food menu features small plates like “Creature from the Black Rangoon” and “Halloween Candy For Adults.” Our friends ordered both of those. As you might imagine the “rangoon” were black dumplings with red chile sauce. And, the “candy” featured popcorn balls and some assorted chocolate bites.
When To Visit
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I suggest get there early for parking and seating. They open at 5 p.m. And, there are no reservations. BackStage Lounge at SouthBound operates Tuesday-Saturday through October 31. Give it a visit!
