Americans drive and drive a lot.  As a matter of fact 87 percent of us take personal trips in our cars every single day. These 5 North Carolina cities are among the best places to drive in the United States. I have a 45 minutes one way trip into work from Clover, South Carolina to Charlotte, North Carolina.  Turns out the Tar heel state boasts quite a few towns that are great to drive in.

Wallethub just came out with the list of the best and worst cities to drive in 2023.  Turns out we aren't doing too badly here. The website compared the 100 largest cities in the country and based their list on 30 key indicators of driver friendliness. Some of the criteria include cost of ownership and maintenance, traffic and infrastructure, and safety to name a few.

So how did North Carolina compare to other towns. Out of the 100 comparable cities, good 'ol Raleigh came in second on the list.  My husband is retired from the North Carolina Highway Patrol, he might argue with you on this one based on Raleigh traffic. But Raleigh fared high in many of the criteria for best places to drive in the United States.

Greensboro, North Carolina came in 6th out of the 100 comparable cities.  Coming in 11th is Winston Salem.  Durham shows up in the number 21 spot. And even Charlotte came in in the top fifty in 35th place.

So many factors come into play when it comes to the best places to drive in the United States.  Road quality means a lot on your commute and of course it all depends on the time of day when it comes to traffic.  To learn more about the 5 North Carolina cities among the best places to drive in the United States and all the others, check out the list from wallethub.com right here.
