A North Carolina middle and high school coach has been arrested on child exploitation charges.
According to the Union County Sheriff's Office, 56-year-old Jeffrey Schneider of Waxhaw was arrested for possession of child pornography. Schneider is an instructional coach at Sun Valley Middle and Sun Valley High Schools. He was placed on administrative leave.
WJZY-TV reported that Schneider was arrested Oct. 17 following a search of his home. He was charged with ten counts of Felony Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Schneider is being held on a $50,000 secured bond.
The arrest comes as part of an Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. According to investigators, authorities received an online tip that Schneider had downloaded child porn images. After that, detectives discovered that Schneider was a school coach.
Union county Sheriff Eddie Cathey said his detectives have seen a significant increase in online exploitation cases over the past several years. "These offenders believe that they can commit their crimes on the internet and will never be held accountable for their actions," Cathey said in a statement. "I encourage all local parents to monitor their children’s internet activity and to report any suspicious communications their child may receive."
Detectives are asking for help from the public. If you have information on this or other potential child exploitation cases, call 911 or the Union County Sheriff's Office at 704-283-3789.
North Carolina Woman Calls Police To Restaurant Over Pink BBQ
Attention new North Carolina residents- learn about BBQ. Not BBQ from where you are from, North Carolina BBQ. Had this woman done just that a frivolous 911 call could have been avoided. Yes, a woman called the police over pink bbq. The incident happened at Clyde Cooper's BBQ in Raleigh. The restaurant took to social media to share the incident. And it all boils down to the woman ordering something that she didn't entirely know what it was.
Smoked meats turn pink on the outside. That's just the way it is. But the woman kept insisting her meal was undercooked (it wasn't). She was offered a replacement meal but was not satisfied. You can read the review she wrote about the experience below. And she had every right to write it. But calling the cops? That has to be a false emergency call correct? I can only imagine being the officer dispatched to this situation. Or the dispatcher who took the call.
The story has since been picked up by several news outlets including the Raleigh News & Observer, Barstool Sports, and where I was first alerted to it- WRAL. One of WRAL's sports radio personalities Joe Ovies posted the review to his Twitter account yesterday. And I could not stop reading the responses. Looking for a way to procrastinate today? I highly recommend it. See both sides of the story below as well as some of the best reactions social media had. And feeling bad about yourself? At least you didn't call the police over pink bbq that was supposed to be pink. I can only imagine the shame this woman is feeling as the story gains more traction.
