'Tis the season of candy. And, you likely plan to hand out treats for Halloween. But, the title of South Carolina favorite candy this year goes to one that is banned in some countries. Furthermore, there was a rumor recently going around that California planned to do the same. However, that turned out to not be quite so accurate.
So, any guesses what this South Carolina favorite candy might be? Well, it's none other than Skittles. According to a survey from candystore.com, Skittles are the most popular candy in South Carolina. And, that's a little different from last year's results when Butterfinger finished first. But, this year, Butterfinger came up short in 2nd place as the favorite candy for South Carolina.
And, exactly why are Skittles banned in some countries? Blame it on additives including Titanium Dioxide, which some believe can damage DNA and possibly increase cancer risks. Also, yellow dyes 5 and 6 fall into other reasons for officials in the countries to issue the ban. In short, they don't feel Skittles including those chemicals are suitable for consumption. However, some countries do make the candy using colors from fruits and vegetables, as well as spices. Of course, the taste is altered.
And, when California recently discussed banning certain food additives, some took that to mean Skittles in particular would be off limits in the state. That proved not to be the case. But, it makes me think twice. Although, I love Skittles. In the past I consumed large amounts of them in every variety, including the berry flavors, sour, tropical and spicy.
Feel free to enjoy in small amounts. And, if you live in South Carolina, now you know what your trick-or-treat visitors want when they ring your bell. See the full list for each state.
North Carolina Here Are Trunk Or Treat Ideas To Try This Halloween!
We are just 11 days out from Halloween. But who is counting? Do you have your costume ready? What about costumes for the kids? Is the house decorated and candy bought? That's all a good start. But don't forget about another Halloween tradition. If you’ve got kids chances are you’ve gotten invited to at least one trunk-or-treat party this Halloween season. The activity is essentially trick or treating on steroids as it’s confined to one small area so the amount of candy you can get in a short time is endless. Churches, sports teams, and even some schools love this tradition and it’s easy to see why. It wasn't really a thing when I was young enough to trick or treat, but I sure wish it was. But if you are going to participate in trunk or treat, your car has to look the part and coming up with ideas can be hard.
Besides the endless amounts of candy, one of the best parts of Trunk or Treat is the decorated cars. I’m not even sure how people come up with some of these trunk-or-treat ideas. But if you’re like me and maybe not the most creative (but I can 100% recreate other people’s ideas lol) then this is the list for you! Hopefully, it will provide some inspiration for you. And even if you don't go quite as "all out" as these people did, I'm sure your car will look amazing. Enjoy these trunk-or-treat ideas and have the best car in the parking lot this spooky season. And be sure to tag us in your photos so we can see your creations!
Happy Halloween!
Hocus Pocus
This Hocus Pocus theme is sure to bring a smile to kids and adults alike. It also reminds me I need to watch the movies before Halloween!
Inside Out
It will take a commitment both financial and time, but I am loving this Inside Out themed trunk. The best part is the interactive twist. What fun!
Monster Teeth
This one is fairly simple but still looks awesome! It could be done pretty affordably as well!
If You Truly Want To Win Halloween
I don't have the time or money to attempt this, but if you do you are sure to win! This may be the best all-around trunk or treat I've ever seen.

But also this is exactly what every parent tells their child to avoid. So maybe don't try this one?
Jurassic Park
I'm loving this Jurassic Park themed one. It almost has me convinced I'm in the land (or at least the safer one at Universal Studios).
