Don't get me wrong, my wife and I love going on vacation. In fact, the further from home we can get, the better. That being said, 100% of the time, by the time vacation is over and we're headed home, we're ready to be home. It's cliche, but there's no place like it. So, to me, what happened to Atlanta's Susan Hodgson is truly the nightmare. Last month, she returned home from vacation only to be greeted by a pile of rubble where her home used to be. It had been demolished by mistake.
WTH?! Wait, as I read further, this is not as bad as I was initially led to believe. Hodgson's property has been vacant for 15 years. However, it was boarded, covered, and the taxes were paid. That being said, someone screwed up and destroyed her investment. Specifically, that someone is the Atlanta-based company, "You Call It We Haul It." Oh, and they've YET to make contact with Hodgson.
Susan tells ABC News, “How do people just go up and tear somebody’s property down and then just drive off?" How can they think that’s OK? I just wish he would come fix the problem that he caused. It’s just hard to believe someone thinks they have the right to just come and tear something up and walk away from it and didn’t come back and say ‘I’m sorry. What do I need to do to fix this? It was an accident.’ They didn’t give me nothing."
Hodgson has been in contact with attorneys but at this point everyone's in limbo about what to do and where to go from here. All she knows for sure is she returned home from vacation to discover a home she owned was accidentally demolished.
