South Carolina Uber Driver Writes Book About His Unusual Passenger Trips In Myrtle Beach
Uber has become a household name pretty much like we refer to Coke when we may be drinking any soda brand. And, one South Carolina Uber driver book shares his unusual passengers trips in and around the Myrtle Beach area. And, in a spirited tourist area like the beach he probably sees a lot of things. So, why not put them together as a collection in a book? People find interest in such tales for sure. We visited Myrtle enough to know it’s book worthy!
Jeff Hoenig is a Myrtle Beach resident. And, according to WPDE, he’s a part-time ride share driver. It’s something he’s done for the last 5 years. And, in that time he racked up about 12,000 or more rides. People aren’t the only thing he delivered over the years. He spent time carrying boxes, newspapers and telephone books. However, he likes the people delivery aspect the most.
So, he strikes up conversations with passengers. Some make him laugh, and others inspire him. Therefore, it made sense to take notes along the way and put together a book. Hoenig says, “I never know one week or one month to the next who I’m going to meet, what they’ve done, where they’re from and my car itself is a museum because of my passengers.” And, he offers up that it’s pretty amazing what riders willingly give up to a total stranger.
So, I take you way back to a show that was ahead of its time called “Taxi Cab Confessions.” I guess this is similar without the “hidden” cameras. A few of his more interesting rides include getting to try on a Super Bowl ring, money from dozens of countries and a mannequin head from a hairdresser.
Hoenig wants his passengers to feel like they are riding with a friend. He hopes they experience something unique and have fun. Find the Uber driver book “Driving on the Sunny Side with 10,000 Strangers” at book stores and Amazon. And, see his full story on WPDE.
