North Carolina Famous Landmark Is Gone: Here's Why
BSPollard

As time goes on the city of Charlotte's skyline is changing. Things seem to be disappearing every day, and new ones show up in their place. I will truly miss this light display on the side of a building.

The Duke Energy building is the home of the Quadrille. It's the multicolored square light that glows in the uptown Charlotte evenings.

According to WSOC-TV, Since the mid-90s, the “Quadrille” celebrated goals and touchdowns made in the Bank of America Stadium with a synchronized light display.

Yesterday crews set up to remove the 1,600-square-foot sculpture from the side of the Duke Energy building. So the North Carolina famous landmark is gone. Still not sure why?

I am truly going to miss this display. I saw it from a distance as I would drive into the station every early morning. If you'd like it, Duke Energy has offered to pay for the art’s transportation and delivery costs. Just not sure what I would do with the massive neon structure.

For now, the structure will be stored in Maiden. If you have an idea for the piece, you can email DEPlaza@duke-energy.com.

You can get the full story and one last look at the Quadrille at WSOC-TV.com
