Tiff's Treats

November 13, 2023 is World Kindness Day.  And, here's how to get free Tiff's Treats cookies in North Carolina to celebrate.  I stumbled upon a Facebook post from Tiff's Treats publicizing the special event.  So, I had to explore more to find out exactly how the deal works.  After all, what could be kinder than free cookies?

And, here's what I found.  The post from Tiff's Treats explains that it's "cool to be KIND."  Therefore, in order to create a chain of "cookie kindness," every Tiff's Treats store plans to give away 100 FREE half dozen boxes of cookies.  The World Kindness offer takes place on Monday, November 13 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., while supplies last.  And, with multiple locations in North Carolina including Charlotte and Raleigh to mention a couple, make your plans to take part!

So, check their website to find a location of Tiff's Treats near you.  Then, head on over to pick up your box of free cookies.  Tiff's then suggests gifting the free cookies to someone deserving to be a part of the chain of kindness.  Capture the moment and post to social media tagging @tiffstreats with hashtag #cookiekindness and #worldkindnessday.  By doing so, you have a chance to win one of 25 $250 Tiff's Treats gift cards.  See their website for all the fine print and rules.

Plus, another Facebook post from Tiff's Treats said they're partnering with Tim McGraw in support of his "Standing Room Only" and World Kindness Day.  They invite followers to go to their Instagram post to comment and enter to win a signed copy of Tim's new album, merchandise and FREE cookies for a year!  Oh my!  Ok, I'm in.  You had me at cookies for a year.

So, if that doesn't get you in a kind mood for World Kindness Day, I don't know what will!

If you're anything like me then you're a sweet kind of person. I love desserts, sugary treats, and all of that all the time. My sweet tooth is beyond strong and is always calling my name. Whenever I am craving something sweet, it's pretty hard to determine what I want. From cookies to ice cream to baked goods, they are all so good. But, being from South Carolina there are some treats that are just a staple for us to know.

Taste Atlas is giving us the three most popular South Carolinian desserts you should know. These are three, but I know there are a few more to add to this list. My aunt has taught me many things and baking some of our favorite recipes that have been passed down is one of the best things. If you do not know any of these treats, then you are missing out. Check out some popular desserts famous in South Carolina that you 100% need to know.

Huguenot Torte

A favorite from Charleston is the Huguenot Torte treat. This is a baked apple and pecan or walnut pudding cake with crispy meringue topping and served with whipped cream. Taste Atlas says this is a pretty recent recipe for the Charleston base.  The recipe first showed up in the 1950s in a cookbook and began to blow up shortly after.

Benne Wafers

Now this is a great one for sure! Benne Wafers is a traditional American cookie coming straight out of Charleston. Made up of a great combo of butter, sugar, flour, eggs, baking powder, and benne. Benne is the Bantu word for sesame seeds. They are a cookie dated back years and years and are now a treat that tourists can enjoy when visiting.

Lady Baltimore Cake

Now, this may be a new one for me. The Lady Baltimore Cake is Taste Atlas No. 1 South Carolina dessert. I have personally never heard of or had this which is kind of crazy being from Charleston. This famous cake was created by two women who ran Charleston's Lady Baltimore Tea Room. The cake is several layers of white sponge cake and a rich marshmallow-like frosting mixed with chopped nuts and dried fruits.
