Here’s What It Might Cost To Buy Kevin’s ‘Home Alone’ Grocery List Today

'Home Alone' is one of those iconic holiday movies most folks watch again and again.  And, TikTok users decided to break down Kevin's 'Home Alone' grocery list and find out what it might cost today to buy those same items with inflation.  After all, that movie took place in 1990.  So, it's not surprising his $20 wouldn't go as far in 2023.

To refresh your memory, after Kevin's parents forget to take him on the family trip out of the country, he's left to fend for himself 'Home Alone.'  So, at one point during his adventure, the 8 year old buys items at a Chicago market.  And, with the total coming to $19.83, he's able to pay with just one $20 bill.

And, the list included 10 items with everything from milk to Stouffer's frozen dinner and bread to Tide detergent and Northern toilet paper.  Of course, anyone shopping these days realizes that toilet paper and Tide alone would likely eat up most of the $20.  I find that on my weekly shopping trip I am able to carry over $100 worth of groceries into the house unassisted in one trip.  That's pretty ridiculous!

But, TikTok users decided to take the 10 item 'Home Alone' grocery list and see what the average cost today might be.  And, one user shopped Target online and the total rang in at $64.  His post went viral with folks seemingly shocked at the "insanity" of the higher prices.  These folks must not buy their own groceries.  It's bad these days in case you hadn't heard.  LOL.  '

Obviously, lots of factors are at play.  It depends on where you shop and brands, etc.  Some TikTok users said their experiment totaled anywhere from $47 to $72.  I have a kid at college 'on his own.'  And, trust me, he needs more than $20 for the Kevin list!
