Here’s why a major North Carolina based bank plans to close several branches. And these branch closings may affect you if you live in the Charlotte area. According to the Charlotte Observer, Truist Bank is struggling with 750 million in companywide cuts. This will also mean layoffs in the area.
According to our source, The Charlotte Observer, Truist has plans to close a least two branches in the Charlotte area. The branch at 818 Church Street in Concord will close as well as the branch in Gastonia at 2414 West Frankling Boulevard. And these branches are slated for closure on March 19. Also, seven more branches across the Tar Heel state are slated to close on that day as well.
Here’s why this major North Carolina based bank plans to close branches. Digital banking may partly be to blame for closing of the brick and mortar branches. Spokesman Brian Davis tells the Charlotte Observer, as a result of digital banking 3% of the 285 branches in North Carolina will close. There is good news for banking customers. David is quoted in the Charlotte Observer, “For the vast majority of branches that are closing, clients will have access to a branch about 2 1/2 miles away on the average”.
If you bank with Truist, company officials say you will not experience any changes with accounts unless you have a safety deposit box.
There will be some layoffs in the third quarter of 2024. For more information on this story, get details from our source right here.
List: Top 50 Companies For Remote Jobs In North Carolina
One thing to come out of the pandemic? Remote jobs. While Covid forced many of us to work from home beginning in March of 2022 for some that change has been permanent. And a great many more want it to be. There are tons of people who absolutely love working from home. I don’t mind having it as an option but personally, I enjoy the structure of returning to an office and the routine that goes with it. But I know from talking to friends that I’m not the majority with that opinion. Well, a FlexJobs survey dug a little deeper into that.
In fact, they found that 65% of survey respondents want to remain full-time remote workers and shockingly 58% said they would search for a new job if they can’t continue working from home post-pandemic. That’s “make or break” for over half of the respondents. Companies take note. In this market where finding workers can be difficult, you’re going to have to adapt. FlexJobs notes that from January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021, the number of remote job postings in their database increased 12% over 2020.
But if you’re in North Carolina looking for remote jobs where should you start? Flexjobs also created a list of the best companies to check out if you want to work from home. To come up with the list they analyzed the job posting history of the around 57,000 companies in their database to identify which companies posted the most remote jobs throughout 2021.
For this list, “remote job” is defined as a professional-level job that allows employees to work from home either all or part of the time.
The top companies with remote jobs in North Carolina in 2022 are:
