It's that time of year again.  And, although most of us continue to make new year's resolutions many fail to keep them.  So, WalletHub put together a list at the beginning of 2023 to find out.  And, here's where North and South Carolina cities rank for keeping their New Year's resolutions.  But, with 2024 on the horizon we still have a chance to 'do over' if we failed in 2023.

Anyway, here's what WalletHub studied and found in their report.  So, unless you are super dedicated your location sometimes sets you up for breaking your resolution.  Follow me here.  The study points out that if you resolve to exercise more but your city has few sidewalks and gyms, you might find it tough to keep that one.

And, the study found some of the top resolutions relate to health and fitness and finance goals.  In fact, 1 in 3 of us resolve to get our finances in shape.  And, that might include paying off debt or saving more.  So, WalletHub ranked more than 180 U.S. cities, looking at over 50 metrics including the opportunities for keeping the most popular resolutions.  And, here's what they found.

The only North Carolina city in the top 20 was Raleigh, at number 16.  The capital city had a score of 62.02.  The Queen City of Charlotte fell out of the top 20 coming in at 21 with a score of 60.61.

And, the first South Carolina city to appear on the list for keeping New Year's resolutions was Charleston with a score of 59.18.  Then, Columbia, South Carolina came in at number 139 with a score of 48.48.  Yikes!  It seems the Palmetto State has some commitment issues. LOL.  Regardless of what the numbers said for 2023, the page turns very soon.  And, we have a chance to make up for any losses.

So cheers to another year.  And, see here for the complete study of where U.S. spots including North and South Carolina cities rank for keeping their New Year's resolutions.
