Dozens of employees at Charlotte Douglas International Airport could be out of work soon. It never feels good when your job is uncertain. But that is where some people are right now. There is a changeover at the airport and that is why an employment question lingers.

According to our source, Channel 9 in Charlotte, here are the details. A Maryland based company provides food and beverage service for the Charlotte airport as well as other airports across the country. HMS Host announced this week that it will no longer have food operations at the two Admiral clubs at the airport.

If you are like me, you may never have heard of the "Admirals Club". It is a lounge for passengers that are eligible and it provides food and other amenities for air travelers waiting on their next flight. According to the North Carolina Department of Commerce, 91 employees will be let go. The lay offs will happen between March 3 and March 17.

Another company will reportedly take over operations of the airport lounge. And that company will reportedly take over in early March. When that transition takes place Channel 9 says employment will be offered to many of the "impacted associates". Dozens of employees at Charlotte airport could be out of work soon.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport is a major employer. Approximately 20,000 people work there. While things do seem up in the air for some of those employees there is hope of job retention once the new food and beverage company takes over. List: Top 50 Companies For Remote Jobs In North Carolina

One thing to come out of the pandemic? Remote jobs. While Covid forced many of us to work from home beginning in March of 2022 for some that change has been permanent. And a great many more want it to be. There are tons of people who absolutely love working from home. I don't mind having it as an option but personally, I enjoy the structure of returning to an office and the routine that goes with it. But I know from talking to friends that I'm not the majority with that opinion. Well,  a FlexJobs survey dug a little deeper into that.

In fact, they found that 65% of survey respondents want to remain full-time remote workers and shockingly 58% said they would search for a new job if they can’t continue working from home post-pandemic. That's "make or break" for over half of the respondents. Companies take note. In this market where finding workers can be difficult, you're going to have to adapt. FlexJobs notes that from January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021, the number of remote job postings in their database increased 12% over 2020.

But if you're in North Carolina looking for remote jobs where should you start? Flexjobs also created a list of the best companies to check out if you want to work from home. To come up with the list they analyzed the job posting history of the around 57,000 companies in their database to identify which companies posted the most remote jobs throughout 2021.

For this list, ā€œremote jobā€ is defined as a professional-level job that allows employees to work from home either all or part of the time.
