I can't even remember how many stories I've read and written about the famous Texas based travel stop Buc-ee's.  And, for quite some time the successful chain pushed to expand into North Carolina.  But, that attempt brought out some strong emotions from residents near the proposed site.  However, it seems the first North Carolina Buc-ee's finally gets approval after a meeting that went on for hours, according to AXIOS Raleigh.

So, in case you missed the back and forth over the past few months, it revolves around Buc-ee's plan to locate their huge fuel pump mega store travel stop in Mebane, North Carolina.  The site sits about 50 miles outside Raleigh.  And, the approval centered around the 32 acres near I-40/85 and Trollingwood and Hawfields Road.

Of course, residents feared such a large development and all the traffic and environmental impacts it brings.  After all, any Buc-ee's enthusiast knows the place is wildly popular.  It's along the lines of 'if you build it, they will come.'  People flock to the famous spot for many reasons.

First, Buc-ee's brings with it 120 fuel pumps.  And, if you haven't seen it in person, it's hard to describe.  Secondly, the bathrooms are literally famous and award winning.  If you know, you know.  They have the cleanest bathrooms in the world.  Finally, the store is like Disney World.  There's food and snacks for days.  And, the freshly made barbecue sandwiches are made right in front of you at a rapid pace 'round the clock.  Plus, don't forget the 'Beaver Nuggets.'  That's a delicious snack, by the way.

Our family in Texas supports Buc-ee's in a big way when they embark on road trips.  And, with our frequent trips between Charlotte and Myrtle Beach, we hit the Florence, South Carolina location often.  Buc-ee's never disappoints.  That big illuminated beaver sign in the sky is a beacon for weary travelers.  And, on the plus side, Buc-ee's brings hundreds of jobs to the area.

So, it goes without saying, I'm a fan.  For more about the first North Carolina Buc-ee's finally getting approval read the full story from AXIOS Raleigh.  And, stay tuned for more on the developing story.
