Yikes-This Is North Carolina’s Most Googled Term On Valentine’s Day
Love is in the air. And, Cupid readies his aim to bring the perfect matches together. However, it’s not always candy and roses for everyone this time of year. Have you ever wondered what kinds of things folks are searching online for the most romantic holiday of the year? Well, get ready. SatelliteInternet.com conducted a study to find out what each state searches on the big day. And, this is North Carolina’s most Googled term on Valentine’s Day.
So, as it turns out North Carolina’s most Googled term on Valentine’s Day is ‘break up.’ Ouch. But, before you get too upset, realize we aren’t alone. All in all, 23 states Googled ‘break up.’ And, that makes it the most popular search term that day. A few of the other states that join North Carolina in Googling ‘break up’ are Georgia, Florida and California. Hey, for you singles I guess that means the field opens up in these states each February 14th.
And, as far as other popular search terms in each state, those vary. But, the study finds everything from ‘romantic movies,’ to ‘date night’ to ‘Tinder’ and ‘chocolate.’ And, there’s even one state that Googles ‘free Valentine’s cards.’ Come on Rhode Island. Be better! But, our neighbors in South Carolina are all lovey dovey with searches for ‘poetry.’ So, at least there’s that!
Now, what’s the takeaway from this study? I tend to think a whole day dedicated to romance and love puts an awful lot of pressure on everyone. If you’re single, it can be a harsh reminder. And, it appears as though everyone but you is living their happily ever after. Obviously, that’s not true. And, if you’re in a couple the pressure to make the day spectacular is heavy. Plus, some might just take the day as a good jumping off point to sever ties with a relationship that’s not working.
After all, I saw another study that said nearly half of people buy their own chocolates on Valentine’s Day. So, that sounds to me like it can’t be working out for everyone. I’ve spent Valentine’s alone and in a relationship. You get through it either way, LOL. Just keep in mind what an old beau of mine once said, “You have to learn to enjoy your own company as much or more than that of others.” Good advice even if he was a bit narcissistic.
