Miranda Lambert Honors Fellow Texans
Miranda Lambert paid tribute to her friends and Marfa Tapes album collaborators Jon Randall and Jack Ingram as the two were inducted into the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame this week.
Miranda posted photos of her and her friends performing on stage and another posing on Instagram. She captioned the images, “Two of my heroes and friends were inducted into the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame this weekend.”
She continued, “I first heard @JackIngram’s music when I was 14. He’d been working the Texas circuit, and I was drawn to the electric performer that he was. His songwriting is a lot like Guy Clark. It’s truth-telling and stories, and he always tells it in such a believable way.”
Lambert recalled, “I was about 19 when I met @jonrandallmusic. We were both signed to Sony Music Nashville, doing radio promos together. We became fast friends because we’re both from the same part of Texas and love the same kind of music and songwriting. We’ve worked together in a lot of different capacities along the way. His approach to music is so real, so raw.”
She concluded the long post with, “Always an honor to celebrate these two.”

Miranda recently sat on her porch dressed in a poncho and brown cowboy boots, holding a guitar, and sang a song from one of her musical heroes, Merle Haggard. She posted the video clip to Instagram.
She smiled as she sang the lyrics to “My Own Kind Of Hat,” which Haggard released in 1979. Miranda sang, “There’s two kind of lovers / And two kind of brothers / And two kind of babies to hold / There’s two kind of cherries / And two kind of fairies / And two kind of mothers, I’m told and told.”
She then sang the chorus, “Cowboys and outlaws / Right guys and Southpaws / Good dogs and all kinds of cats / Dirt roads and white lines / And all kinds of stop signs / I stand right here where I’m at / ‘Cause I wear my own kind of hat.”
