It's no secret the cost of living is through the roof these days. Everything from gas, to food to housing just seems to dig deeper into your pocket every day. But, according to Rocket Homes, there are still places across the country where you can save money. And, two spots in North Carolina made Rocket Homes' list of '25 Most Affordable Cities In The U.S.' So, we'll look at what stands out about North Carolina's most affordable cities.
First, in order to come up with the finding, Rocket Homes looked at housing costs, utilities, food, health care, transportation and goods and services. And, after crunching the numbers in those areas, their experts pointed us to these 25 cities across the nation. So, if you hope to relocate soon and have the option of picking your spot these might be options to consider.
Before we get to North Carolina's most affordable cities making the list I have to point out number 4. And, that spot belongs to our neighbors in Augusta, Georgia. It doesn't often get a lot of attention. However, we lived there for 5 years. Our son was born there. And, Rocket Homes research says the median rent is less than $1000. Plus, median home sale prices ring in at just over $200,000, with a cost of $128 per square foot. It's where we bought our first home. And, it remains my favorite house we ever owned.
Now, let's get on with North Carolina's most affordable cities according to Rocket Homes. So, coming in at number 13 is Greenville, North Carolina. Median rent in Greenville hovers just above $800. Wow, that's impressive. And, the median home sale price is in the mid $200,000 range. Rocket Homes points out that puts housing in the city at 22 percent lower than the rest of the country.
And, finally we look at number 20 on the list of most affordable cities in the U.S. Well, that spot belongs to Greensboro. I enjoy Greensboro quite a bit. It's full of fun restaurants and bars with plenty to keep you busy in downtime. And, Rocket Homes says median rent is just above $1000. Also, median home sale prices are around $213,000.
In closing, make sure you take a look at the entire list from Rocket Homes to make your choices for a move. But, maybe consider one of North Carolina's most affordable cities making the list.
