This North Carolina school district just named among the ‘most envied’ in the country. All parents and really all people know how important a good education is. It is the cornerstone of how people learn how to navigate in the world. Naturally we strive to have our kids in the best school districts possible. This one particular school district in North Carolina comes out on top time and time again.
Testprepinsight.com recently published their list of the 250 most envied school districts in the United States. So what do they mean by ‘most envied’? They surveyed 3 thousand parents and asked them things like which school districts they would most want their children to attend.
Some of the most desired districts in country are in wealthier areas. And also in Metropolitan cities. This North Carolina school district was just named among the ‘most envied’ in the country. Coming in at number 5 in the top 5 is the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City school district. Wow, out of 250 school districts, this one came in at number 5.
What is special about this school district you may be wondering. According to textprepinsight.com, “Known for its high academic achievement, Chapel Hill-Carrboro offers a diverse curriculum, strong arts and music programs, and a variety of extracurricular activities.”
So where is THE most envied school district in the United States? According to this survey, it is in Pennsylvania, the lower Merion School District. It’s located in the Philadelphia area and boasts a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Families love that and so do the students. Sometimes having a diverse list of extracurricular activities helps when it comes to college admission time.
The Charleston school district came in at number 20 on the list. Charlotte Mecklenburg schools came in at #41.
8 North Carolina Schools Earned The Distinction of National Blue Ribbon Schools
Yesterday 8 North Carolina schools were named National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education. According to the Department of Education, “the recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups on assessments. These schools demonstrate what is possible to make an enduring, positive difference in students’ lives.” A total of 353 schools nationwide received this distinction, this included 313 public schools and 40 private schools. Each of the 8 North Carolina schools recognized was a public school.
The award-winning schools will be formally recognized at an awards ceremony on November 16 and 17, 2023 in Washington, DC. This is the 40th year the Department of Education has selected the National Blue Ribbon Schools. According to the department the criteria for public schools are as follows:
Performance Award Criteria for Public Schools: In order to be eligible for nomination, a school must meet several criteria based on the performance of its students on state assessments in reading (or English language arts) and mathematics or a composite of performance on these assessments with other measures of student performance (e.g., student growth on state assessments, performance on state assessments in other subjects, graduation rates, or other indicators in the state’s accountability system).
