And so it begins.  March Madness has arrived in the Queen City.  Charlotte's Spectrum Center will play host to first and second round NCAA Tournament games this Thursday and Saturday (3/21 and 3/23).  It's interesting to note that this action is for the early rounds in the tournament's West Region and Midwest Regions.  I've heard Charlotte, North Carolina referred to in a lot of ways, but "West" and "Midwest" are new geographic adjectives for me. <g>

I've got a sneaking suspicion there may be some noticeable absence in offices around the Chalotte area Thursday as the action at the Spectrum Center tips off during the lunch hour (12:15).    The number 8 seed Mississippi State Bulldogs take on the number 9 seed Michigan State Spartans in that first matchup.

Then, at 2:45, in what has to be a major scheduling snafu, The NCAA West Region's number one seed, The Tar Heels of North Carolina will play the winner of the Howard/Wagner play-in game (this will take place Tuesday night).  Why would you NOT have the Tar Heels close out the day's action in Charlotte rather than being a mid-afternoon snack?  This makes no sense.

Anyway, Thursday's NCAA Tournament action at the Spectrum Center will continue after the Tar Heel game with the number 7 seed Texas Longhorns squaring off against the winner of the Viginia/Colorado State play-in game.

And a huge day of NCAA First Round Tournament action will come to a close with the Midwest Region's number 2 seed Tennessee Volunteers meeting the number 15 seed Peacocks of Saint Peter's.

On Saturday, the Winners of the Michigan/Mississippi State game and the North Carolina game will meet in Round 2 action.  Also, the winners of the Tennessee/Saint Peter's and Texas games will square off as well.

Tickets are still available for these first and second round games of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament games at Charlotte's Spectrum Center here.  If you can't make it to the Spectrum Center, no worries, all games will be televised (Check listings).
