Almost everybody loves an Oreo cookie. But many have questions. One of these finally is studied, and this often-asked Oreo cookie question is answered.

WBZ says MIT researchers conducted a study to find out why Oreo cream only sticks to one cookie and not the other. Researchers created an Oreometer, which splits the cookie in half while measuring the amount of torque it takes to rotate the cookies apart.

Researcher Crystal Owens says, “We learned, sadly, that even if you twist an Oreo perfectly, the cream will almost always end up mostly on one of the two wafers, with a delamination of the cream, and there’s no easy way to get it to split between wafers. I hope people can use this information to improve their cookie eating when they twist open an Oreo, or when they dunk it in milk.''

Delamination is when something splits apart into layers.

I have to admit I am not much of a cookie dunker. I am however an Oreo cookie splitter. Now I have to continue to try to get an equal amount of cream on both sides. Just to prove them wrong. Looks like I'm going to need to eat a lot of Oreos.

If I had to choose one simple dessert to enjoy for the rest of my life, I would choose cookies. Although I am not sure what my favorite cookie is, I really love double chocolate chip cookies. I also really love Oreos with milk.

NORTH CAROLINA: Chocolate Chip

In the homeland of Krispy Kreme donuts, the Tar Heels and Blue Devils rank chocolate chip cookies number one.

ALABAMA: Peanut Butter with Chocolate Chips

Peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips are Alabama's favorite cookie. It's a state where college football reigns and peanut butter is a tasty snack to enjoy while watching a game.

ALASKA: Russian Tea Cakes
