If you've ever had a close friend, chances are you've openly fantasized about what it would be like to have a shared passion become a money-making business to share. A lot of times, it's "Wouldn't it be cool to open this kind of bar or this kind of restaurant?" For Charles Coulson and Harrison Dixon that passion is golf, and their joint venture is 19th At The Warehouses in Rock Hill.

22 years ago, Coulson and Dixon became fast friends in elementary school. The two then attended middle school and high school together. Eventually Charles Coulson attended Winthrop and Harrison Dixon became a South Carolina Gamecock. The two re-connected when Dixon came back to Rock Hill to finish his degree at Winthrop. During the Covid-19 Pandemic the two began playing golf-all the time.

Remember when I talked earlier about buddy business fantasies? Coulson tells the Charlotte Observer, "We got the golf bug, went out and played every day. After a couple of beers one day, we said how awesome would it be if we'd be able to bring a golf simulator-type business to the Rock Hill area?"

That was the dream in 2021. Now in 2024, 19th at the Warehouses is their reality. Inside you'll find four golf simulators in the main dining area and two more located in private rooms available for reservations. 19th at the Warehouses is licensed with Full Swing. This company is a PGA Tour partner (and producer of an awesome Netflix documentary series-btw). This allows customers access to "play" some amazing and exclusive courses on the simulators.

However, these simulators don't just do golf. They also can be set up for games of football, basketball, and baseball games.

Oh and perhaps you caught the reference to "main dining area." The menu at the family-friendly restaurant includes warm spinach dip, churros, plus sandwiches and flatbreads. Also, a full bar is available.

19th at the Warehouses is located at 130 W. White St. B in Rock Hill. It's open noon to 9 Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday; noon to 10 Friday-Sunday.

These South Carolina Restaurants Were Nationally Recognized As Hidden Gems

There are restaurants that deservedly receive a lot of attention and publicity. And typically for great reason. But now it’s time to delve into some different restaurants. Not necessarily the newest or the trendiest, but definitely some of the best. And these three restaurants in South Carolina are wonderful hidden gems. They were named amongst the top 25 hidden gem restaurants on TripAdvisor's recently released Best of the Best list. This list is nationwide so to have any restaurant included is impressive, but to have 3 of the 25 is certainly something to be proud of.

The most surprising part of this? The three restaurants recognized by TripAdvisor are in three different cities. Typically we see Charleston receiving this recognition time and time again. And while it's deserved (and one of these places is in Charleston), it's also nice to see other South Carolina cities getting some love! All three restaurants are on the coast though. Not only was South Carolina recognized North Carolina also had two restaurants named as the best of the best hidden gems. If you aren't good at math- that 20% of the best restaurants are in one of the two Carolinas.

Other states that got some love include New York, Tennessee, and Florida. Each of those states had multiple restaurants make the list as well. How were these restaurants selected for this top 25 list from TripAdvisor? TripAdvisor says that the Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best restaurants have "a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews" from users over a 12-month period. Fewer than 1% of Tripadvisor’s 8 million listings are awarded Best of the Best. You can read the full list and more about the 3 South Carolina Hidden Gems Award winners here.
