This Drink Might Replace Coffee
Most Americans start their days by drinking a cup (or three) of coffee. However, most of these avid coffee drinkers haven’t even ever heard of Yaupon holly, a plant that, according to GoodNet, might soon replace your morning cup of joe.
Yaupon was voted by Whole Foods to be the top food trend of 2023. It is a caffeinated plant that primarily grows in North America. Although coffee will probably remain Americans’ main caffeine source, Yaupon is starting to catch the eye of many.
Yaupon used to be a popular drink and was commonly consumed by indigenous Americans. Over time it became expensive and only available to the rich which made it eventually disappear. With the current food trends and huge influence that social media has Yaupon has made a comeback.
A lot of Americans are eager to buy this caffeinated drink that’s sourced from the United States. The new uprising of individuals being health conscious and buying organic products has also caused more people to want this American plant.
The Yaupon holly isn’t only being used as a caffeinated drink. It’s also being used to create many other items like cocktails, beauty products, and soap. Once a larger amount of people learn about the plant it’s likely that it’ll be used in even more ways.
