Hurricane Debby Prompted A State Of Emergency For South Carolina
State of emergency declared in South Carolina ahead of Hurricane Debby. Governor Henry McMaster issued the executive order to prepare for what could be disastrous effects from the storm. He says in the order, “With a potentially significant rainfall event forecast for the next few days, it is critical that residents in potentially affected areas start making preparations and plans today [Sunday]”.
Hurricane Debby Causing A State of Emergency In South Carolina
According to our source, WBTV in Charlotte, as of Monday morning, Debby is classified as a category one making landfall in Florida. Heavy rainfall is expected along the North and South Carolina coast by Tuesday and into the Charlotte region Wednesday and Thursday. Because of the heavy rainfall expected there could be flash flooding and life threatening river flooding according to Channel 3.

The National Hurricane Center says the storm is trending farther west that it was on Saturday. This statement directly from wbtv.com, “The more westerly track will keep it in the gulf and over warmer water which will help the system strengthen. Hurricane Warnings are now in place for the Big Bend area of Florida. At this point, most model guidance suggests this system will impact the WBTV viewing area bringing some elevated rain chances several days later this week”.
Most Charlotte area weather outlets say the Charlotte-Rock Hill-Gastonia areas will be effected the most around Wednesday or Thursday with heavy rain expected. The coastal areas in North and South Carolina will be hit the hardest from the effects of Hurricane Debby.
