Social media company X, formerly known as Twitter, is closing its San Francisco office.  According to a memo, the move will occur "over the next few weeks."

Where are they Going?

The plan is to move the operation into an existing office in San Jose. The move will also allow X to move forward with plans for an engineering-focused office in Palo Alto that the company will share with Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company, XAI.

Not Good News For San Francisco

This move is another blow to San Francisco's Mid-Market area, which has seen several tech companies leave the area because of a rise in open-air drug use and sales. Fox 5 San Diego says Monday’s report from the Times follows on the heels of Musk announcing last month that he would move X’s headquarters from San Francisco to Texas. Musk’s announcement was in apparent reaction to California’ passage of a law that prohibits school districts from requiring that parents be notified when their children change their gender ID pronouns.
