South Carolina Whataburger Lends A Hand In Sending Students To Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade
Texas based burger chain, Whataburger, has been growing by leaps and bounds in the Southeast. And, now a newly opened South Carolina Whataburger sends students to Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade with a donation they won’t soon forget.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade is iconic. And, every year students in bands and dance teams from all over the country are offered chances to participate in the legendary Thanksgiving Day event. But, of course, those opportunities require the students to raise the funds to make the trip.

And, the Mauldin High School Mavettes, a pom dance spirit squad that performs at football games and pep rallies for the school received a check they’ll always remember to help them get to the parade. It comes courtesy of the newest South Carolina Whataburger.
The latest location of Whataburger in South Carolina is 308 W. Butler Dr. in Mauldin. And, according to The Herald, the grand opening this week was made even more special with the presentation of a check to The Mavettes in their quest to participate in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
I remember being a cheerleader at my high school in Texas. And, although we didn’t go to an event with the status of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, we had plenty of performances we had to raise money to attend. It’s not always easy. But, with the generosity shown as Whataburger sends students to Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, this is something they won’t soon forget.
Recently, the popular Texas based chain has been expanding rather rapidly in The Palmetto State. In fact, the chain plans to open 6 more stores in the state in the coming months. Locations include Anderson, Columbia, Lexington, Easley and two in Spartanburg.
Having grown up in Texas, it’s one of my childhood favorite burgers. They’ve been around since 1950 with the first location in Corpus Christi, Texas. And, many locals in North and South Carolina confuse it with the regional spot What-A-Burger. They are not affiliated in any way whatsoever.
But, good luck to the Mavettes and kudos as Whataburger sends students to Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade!
