Latest South Charlotte Hotspot To Host Grand Opening Celebration
We commute into town from Indian Land, South Carolina each day. As such, your main route is Johnston Road that takes us through the Ballantyne area of South Charlotte and RIGHT by the Bowl at Ballantyne.
Our first exposure to this entertainment area adjacent to the Ballantyne Resort was an Eli Young Band concert last November at Amp Ballantyne, a beautiful outdoor amphitheater venue on the land that was once the resort’s 18th hole of the golf course. Since then, there’s been a slow rollout of restaurants in the area that we’ve enjoyed. OMB has opened a new, HUGE location there. Flower Child has been the site of more than one outdoor lunch/dinner. North Italia is tremendous Italian food. And Postino Wine Cafe has been nothing short of a revelation. Also Bossy Beulah’s Chicken Shack and Harriet’s Hamburgers have opened up to much acclaim.
Well, finally there’s going to be a grand opening celebration at The Bowl at Ballantyne on October 5. According to WSOC-TV, festivities include a free block party along Bowl Street from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. that will feature family-friendly activities, giveaways, and a DJ. Olde Mecklenburg Brewery will also host its annual Mecktoberfest from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. There will be live music, stein holding contests, and German cuisine. Later that night (7pm), “Trampled By Turtles” will be performing at Amp. Tickets for that are $54 and can be purchased here.
