Folia Cocktail Lounge opening
Debbie Nance

The scene in South End is just getting better and better. Our radio station is located at the intersection of South Blvd. and Park Avenue. Within short walking distance are already so many great eateries and watering holes and tomorrow (10/11) another makes its debut as craft cocktail bar, Folia arrives.

Technically, Folia's address is 1440 S. Tryon St., Suite 102. However, as my mother used to yell at my father, "Just tell me where it is." Folia's neighbors are such South End staples as Pie.zza and Wooden Robot.

Folia is the baby of famed mixologist Bob Peters who promises a Miami garden vibe to this new cocktail lounge. According to WSOC-TV, Folia is the latest collaboration for Peters, beverage director for Charlotte-based Built on Hospitality. Chef Chris Coleman, AJ Klenk and Sean Potters are partners in that hospitality group.

The group's other properties include The Goodyear House (opened January 2020), Old Town Kitchen & Cocktails in Rock Hill (2021), and the uptown restaurant, Haymaker.

6 Tequila Based TikTok Recipes to Make for National Tequila Day

Did you know it's almost National Tequila Day? Yeah, that's right! National Tequila Day is July 24, 2023. Do you know what that means? It means we have more of a reason to make some drinks that have tequila in them. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're on a diet right now... who cares! It's time to really celebrate and have a good time!

Of course, TikTok has plenty of recipes for you to enjoy. I enjoy finding a new cocktail recipe to try so this was my perfect chance. Now, it's time to gather some of my favorite tequila-based recipes and try them all. Be careful, make sure you have nowhere to go and you're at least 21 years of age. Let's enjoy a good drink, cheers!

Barbie Margarita

Barbie margarita? Wow, now this is a great one especially with the new Barbie moving making its way to theaters. Cheers girls (and guys)! You will need tequila blanco, simple syrup, lime juice, ice, and sips up!! This 100% is a great drink I plan to give you a taste, the color is even better!

Watermelon Paloma

Never heard of a paloma, but I love watermelon flavored drinks so why not give this one a try. It actually looks pretty refreshing, so it's worth a shot! You'll only need blended fresh watermelon, watermelon juice, lime juice, agave, tequila, and cheers!!

Strawberry Tequila Punch

Here is a drink my friends would love when I am hosting a game night or something. This punch recipe in a big jug would certainly be gone by the end of the night. You will need frozen strawberries, blanco tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, sugar, champagne, sparkling water, and a beautiful glass to sip out of.

Tequila Sunrise

This a pretty good go to drink when you're out and about and not sure what to order. Whenever I am in the mood for a tequila drink this is certainly one of my go to orders. All you will need is blanco tequila, orange juice, ice, grenadine, and sips away!

Cotton Candy Tequila Drink

I absolutely love, love, LOVE cotton candy. So of course when I saw cotton candy and tequila in one drink, I had to take a look at this recipe. Of course, it looks great so I will be adding this to the list of things I try out for myself. All you will need is tequila, watermelon pucker, sour mix, blue Curacao, and sips away!

Skinny Margarita

If you are watching those calories, then we have the perfect, skinny drink for you. This skinny margarita cocktail is low in calories so you can watch that intake but still have a good time with the girls. You will need orange juice, lime juice, tequila, agave, and ice.
