Cottage cheese is surprisingly one of the healthiest cheeses you can eat. According to Goodnet, there are many surprising health benefits that come from eating cottage cheese.

Bone health

Cottage cheese is great for bone health because of its super high calcium content. This can help to prevent things like osteoporosis which can later lead to broken bones and low bone density. Cottage cheese also has high amounts of phosphorus which is super important for bone strength and development. It also has protein which helps the body to maintain good bone density.

Full of nutrients

Cottage cheese is packed with a ton of incredible nutrients. Just a single cup of cottage cheese has 23.6 grams of protein, 282 mg of potassium, 251 mg of calcium, and 20.3 grams of magnesium. Cottage cheese is also great if you need an energy boost because of its high levels of B vitamins that help convert food into energy.

Gut health

Due to the curdling process, or fermentation, cottage cheese goes through before being consumed, it is extremely good for gut health. This is because of the good bacteria, also known as probiotics, that is introduced in the process. However, not all cottage cheese contains this good bacteria so it's important to check the brand and see if it contains live and active cultures.
