Anyone from the South typically has a deviled eggs recipe. It's usually handed down from grandma to mom to generations to follow. It shows up at every church potluck and family holiday. It's especially popular around Easter and spring brunch gatherings. But, this one takes an ordinary deviled eggs recipe and cranks it up a notch with the addition of candied bacon and jalapenos for the sweet heat treatment.

Where I First Had Deviled Eggs With Candied Bacon

I first experienced a taste of this type of deviled eggs recipe at a barbeque restaurant in Charlotte that, sadly, doesn't exist anymore. But, they had something like this on their appetizer menu. And, once my family tasted it, there was no going back to ordinary deviled eggs. I played around with many variations of the candied bacon component. I made a sauce on the stove with maple syrup and brown sugar and bourbon. I painted it on bacon and baked it in the oven. That was delicious. But, it was tedious and time consuming.

Here's How We Snoopify Deviled Eggs

Well, recently, I ran across a recipe known as 'Snoop Dog's Billionaire Bacon.' Yes, that Snoop Dog. I guess hanging around Martha Stewart influenced his culinary skills. Anyway, I made this one during the holidays to top my Thanksgiving deviled eggs. And, it was a hit. So, we'll make my deviled eggs and 'Snoopify' them with the Billionaire Bacon.

For the eggs, pretty standard ingredients go in. Once you boil and peel them, scoop them out and add mayo, dijon or yellow mustard, pinch of salt, sweet pickle relish and smoked paprika. You can adjust seasoning to your liking. This is really a matter of preference when it comes to texture and taste.

And, for the bacon, I use Applegate sugar free and no nitrate uncured bacon. Use your favorite. We started with 8 slices, some brown sugar, black pepper and red pepper flakes to spice it up a bit. The mixture is sprinkled on the bacon. The bacon is on a rack on a sheet in the oven and baked for about a half hour. Enjoy the how to video, and I hope you enjoy this decadent treat! And, feel free to just snack on the bacon or add it to salads, burgers or just about anything your heart desires!
