Why You Should Start Your Day With Positive Thoughts
Everyone I know these days seems to be under a great amount of stress. It’s almost unavoidable. And although we can’t always change our work load, we can start our day with positive thoughts. You’d be surprised at how much just changing the way you think about the beginning of your day can impact the rest of it.
Why Positive Thoughts Are Important
Let’s explore why this happens. When you think positive thoughts your brain releases chemicals associated with happiness and well-being. And, in turn, it improves your mental health by reducing stress, anxiety and depression.
And, when you reduce the anxiety and depression, your confidence levels and productivity rise. Plus, your relationships professionally and personally can soar. But, how can we go about starting our stress-filled days with positive thoughts? I know, it’s sometimes easier said than done. But, let’s give it a shot.
How To Work More Positive Thoughts Into Your Day
One article I read suggested a few techniques that are certainly something we all can do. You can increase your motivation in a positive direction by simply jotting down some tasks you hope to achieve that day. Don’t go overboard and add to your stress level. Keep it doable.
Furthermore, instead of focusing on all the negative things surrounding you, try gratitude. Maybe you decide to keep a journal of positive thoughts. Write down at least 3 things each day you have to be grateful for. Dig deep. They may not always be obvious surface things. You can be thankful for just being alive. Think about the people in your life you’re grateful to have. Don’t give yourself time to focus on the negative.
Of course, it goes without saying that exercise and good sleep play a pivotal role in helping you to have positive thoughts. My problem, however, is sometimes sleep doesn’t come so easily. But, make sure you do everything possible to give yourself a good shot at a decent night’s rest.
Sleep experts recommend lowering the temp in your bedroom to below 70. Maybe take a cool shower before bed. Turn off screens and electronic devices an hour before bed. I like to turn on a noise machine. And, a weighted blanket is never a bad idea.
So, hopefully just employing a few of these ideas will help you shift from negative to positive thoughts.
