Do You Know Where Not To Take Someone On A First Date?
First dates can be stressful enough. But, I remember seeing a list last year of places a woman refuses to go on a first date. Well, that list resurfaced again, and it got me to thinking…what’s so wrong with these first date selections? And, what are some alternatives that won’t have your date locking the doors and refusing to exit the vehicle?
Where Not To Go On A First Date
First of all, the list. No one knows exactly where or how it originated. But, several media outlets shared it at the time. And, I’ll go ahead and remind you, or if need be, end your suspense. Topping the list of places a woman refuses to go on a first date was Cheesecake Factory.
I have to defend the Cheesecake Factory a bit. Ok, I know it’s a chain and possibly a bit ‘cheesy’…pun intended. But, I happen to love many items on their menu. One in particular is a Chipotle Chicken Pasta. And, who says ‘no’ to a seemingly endless supply of cheesecake options?
Why Say No To This First Date Option?
That leads to one of the reasons some have concluded may have led to the chain landing at the top of the first date no-no list. Number one…it’s a chain. And, perhaps she’s been there too many times, or she may think the choice of restaurant lacks originality or creativity.
Secondly, the menu is basically a book. You’re stressed enough trying to figure out how to act on this date. Do you really want to be overwhelmed by a menu? And finally, it’s a bit loud. A first date is usually about getting to know each other. I, on the other hand, think the boisterous atmosphere might relieve some of the pressure of filling awkward silences.
So, what might be a better option for a first date? Well, pretty much any chain or fast food restaurant is a bad idea, according to the list. Perhaps a quiet coffee house. Well, that’s no good apparently. It landed at number 18 of the list of 28. I still think a coffee date is a good option.
Try These Ideas Instead
They mention that for obvious reasons family functions, church and the gym are a no-go. Therefore, it seems we have to do some serious digging to find acceptable options. How about a concert or live music event? Perhaps a fun interactive couple activity would be a cooking class. And, wine tours are always fun as well.
But, you do you. And, make your judgement based on the date. After all, she may enjoy a big slice of cheesecake followed by a cup of coffee and a nice chat about the next family function she won’t be attending with you!
