A new three-sided microphone was used during the Grand Ole Opry's 100th birthday kick-off celebration last Saturday (March 1). The festivities will span across the globe through 2026.

Country star Vince Gill led the unveiling of the microphone alongside The Oak Ridge Boys and Charles Wesley Godwin. Several Country Music Hall of Fame members also joined the stage like Marty Stuart, Connie Smith, and Bill Anderson.

New video displays and modern lighting now enhance the stage at 2804 Opryland Drive. These upgrades improve sound quality for both live performances and broadcasts.

Show director Dan Rogers notes that mic stands are as crucial to the venue's identity as the Circle and barn backdrop.

Updated screens and lighting enhance the experience for both live audiences and viewers at home. These improvements help share country music with fans worldwide.

The birthday celebration will continue at London's Royal Albert Hall. The 'Opry 100 Honors' series celebrates country music legends past and present.

100 Years of Grand Ole Opry arrives in stores April 15. The book features never-before-seen photos and stories from country music's biggest stars. Merchandise includes vinyl records and apparel.

The iconic venue has relocated twice since its WSM radio beginnings. After moving to Ryman Auditorium in 1943, it settled at its current location in 1974. The Circle, cut from Ryman's stage floor, moved with it.

You can join the festivities and see the new microphone yourself. Get tickets for Opry events here.
