Avelo Airlines To Launch New Base at Concord Airport, Creating Jobs in North Carolina
Starting March 6, Avelo Airlines will open its newest base at Concord-Padgett Regional Airport, its seventh location in North Carolina.
In a few weeks, they’ll set up their eighth base in Wilmington. Each location will create 50 airline jobs and generate another 50 positions through local partnerships.
Officials will cut the ribbon during an early morning ceremony in Concord. Key executives from the airline will join local leaders and business owners to celebrate the opening.
Teams have renovated Concord’s airport, getting it ready for Avelo’s arrival. Recent improvements to buildings and equipment finished ahead of schedule.
This expansion strengthens Avelo’s presence in Southeast air travel, adding to their bases in Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte. Their plan focuses on smaller cities with limited flight options, connecting them directly to major hubs.
The expansion follows growing momentum in North Carolina’s aviation industry. State data shows consistent increases in flights and employment since 2020.
Avelo chose these locations by identifying service gaps. Their research showed both cities needed direct flights to major destinations across the U.S.
The airline plans to support local businesses too. They’ll partner with nearby hotels, transportation services, and restaurants to boost the local economy.
Flight options will expand gradually. Core routes will launch first, with more destinations added as demand grows.
Airport upgrades finished ahead of schedule. Passengers will enjoy comfortable waiting areas and efficient baggage handling.
This development shows how air travel is evolving in the region. Smaller airports are becoming increasingly important in connecting people across the state.
