First Ward Park in Charlotte will host the Get Your Rear in Gear 5K on March 22. The event starts at 7:30 with pre-race activities.

To remember Steve Crump, a beloved reporter who passed away from colon cancer, WBTV staff created Team Crump. People can save $5 on registration by using code 'WBTV' when signing up.

Through February 28, adult registration costs $40 while kids run for $18. From March 1, Prices are $45 for adults and $20 for children until March 21. Want to join virtually? Remote runners pay $25 but must sign up by March 19.

“Today, we're highlighting an incredible event taking place locally, and another event taking place in Arizona, both designed to with the goal of making a difference in the fight against colon cancer,” says cancer survivor Renee Branem to wcnc.com.

The race happens during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Funds raised help local patients and support screening programs in the area.

Runners take off at 8 a.m. sharp from First Ward Park. This community event combines health education with important fundraising for cancer prevention.

Registration for teams and individual runners is now open through the Colon Cancer Coalition website. They work to increase screening rates while enhancing patient care.
