At their new 2709 Water Ridge Parkway location, PSA expects to employ up to 400 people. Employees need to decide if they'll relocate South by this April, with the transition happening between late 2025 and 2026.
Operating 141 planes, PSA runs 750 flights daily. They're expanding their fleet to 155 aircraft by bringing in new CRJ900s. Through Charlotte alone, they carry 21,000 passengers and handle 180 flights every day.
"We chose to relocate PSA's headquarters to Charlotte for several important reasons, including that Charlotte is where most of our daily departures occur and almost all our training is based," said Dion Flannery, President and CEO of PSA.
While heading south, PSA will keep its maintenance facility and crew base in Dayton, maintaining 550 jobs. Their operations reach across Dallas-Fort Worth, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., connecting to more than 100 destinations.
This relocation happens without state or local incentives. The new site is located five miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, now ranked seventh globally for traffic.
Eight cities host PSA's maintenance facilities: Canton/Akron, Cincinnati, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, Greenville, Norfolk, Pensacola, and Savannah. These locations handle both scheduled and unexpected repairs.
Charlotte serves as American's second-largest hub after Dallas-Fort Worth, employing 15,000 people there. Throughout North Carolina, American Airlines employs 17,500 workers.
Out of PSA's 5,000 employees, some will likely move South. Job openings in Charlotte are available, but the final numbers depend on how many Dayton staff members choose to relocate.
