Foo Bar threw open its doors Friday night, Oct. 31, at the AvidXChange Music Factory in South End Charlotte. This bar-cade sits right beside The Comedy Zone.

Inside, you'll find retro arcade machines, handcrafted cocktails, and a full-service bar. The owners timed the launch with Halloween, turning opening night into a costume party.

At 8 p.m., staff held a costume contest. The winner walked away with $500 cash for the funniest get-up. Guests showed up dressed as ghosts, superheroes, and movie characters.

A dozen pinball machines line the walls. Racing games sit next to air hockey tables. Skee Ball and Guitar Hero round out the selection. Want to battle friends? Try Pac-Man Battle Royale or Street Fighter.

"No sticky floors or watered-down drinks here — Foo Bar is all about keeping the vibes high and laughter heard all around," the venue's website says.

The bar rotates through local beers, wines, and cocktails. No menu appeared online when doors first opened.

Management calls it "the ultimate mash-up of nostalgia and nightlife," according to an Instagram post. Neon lights glow throughout the space, mixing arcade fun with bar energy.

Families can visit Saturdays and Sundays, noon to 5 p.m. All ages are welcome then. Every other hour requires guests to be 21 or older.

Kids under 18 need a parent or chaperone during those afternoon windows. Staff checks IDs outside weekend family hours.

You'll find Foo Bar at 900 NC Music Factory Blvd, Suite B4, Charlotte, NC 28206. It's tucked inside the AvidXChange Music Factory complex.
