Finders Coffee will open at 1617 South Tryon Street in Charlotte's South End this summer. A soft opening is planned for mid-July. The grand opening comes in mid-August. Owner Haegon Kim told WhatNow those timelines might shift as the project wraps up.
The cafe will serve espresso drinks and matcha. It will also offer a four-ingredient Basque-style cheesecake made with cream cheese, heavy cream, eggs, and sugar. "We try to focus on more basics," Kim said, according to WhatNow.
Kim added that his travels sparked the idea. He values simple, high-quality ingredients. "You can literally taste each ingredient," he said.
The menu will feature a flourless cheesecake lineup in multiple flavors. Options include Original, Strawberry, Chocolate, Matcha, Double Chocolate, and Cookies and Cream. The shop will also serve matcha sourced from Ureshino, Japan, paired with the dessert options.
The space will offer both indoor and outdoor seating.
The shop expects to serve morning-through-midafternoon crowds, with posted hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. South End has become a hub for compact, specialty cafes that serve nearby residents and daytime workers. The morning-leaning hours appear designed for that customer base.
The shop joins a string of small cafes coming to the neighborhood this year. More details, including a finalized opening date, will be announced closer to launch.
