Look I'll be the first to admit my bias. I don't like chocolate. That being said most of these treats I can see how, if you were normal and did, you would enjoy them. But North Carolina, I'm shocked and honestly disgusted. While there is not one thing on this list I'd personally want to eat we by far have the worst option. But let's take a step back. This list came from Shane Co. which looked at Google Trends Search Data over the last 5 years to determine to most popular chocolate covered treat in each US State.

The most popular winner was bacon, which I mean if it involved bacon I'm probably a fan. Other popular answers were fruits and nuts- though chocolate covered pineapple seems a little peculiar to me. And a chocolate covered pickle honestly seems like a gimmicky fair food but Ohioans seem to like it. Another interesting to me food? Chocolate covered coffee beans. I get coffee, but I'd never heard of eating the beans. But nothing, I mean nothing shocked me more than the creep crawly insect that North Carolina chose. I mean I get it this was just search data so you aren't all eating it. But why are you even looking for this?

Read the full study here and keep reading for the top chocolate covered treat in each US state including the shocking North Carolina favorite.

Cricket

Yes, somehow North Carolina's favorite (or at least most searched) chocolate covered treat is a cricket. Disgusting. I had to google to see if this was actually a real thing. But yes it is. You can buy them on Amazon. There is not enough money you could pay me to eat even one of these much less a whole bag. In fact, I think I lost my appetite for dinner tonight. Apologies if you like these, clearly a lot of y'all do. It just sounds so gross.
