Major League Soccer resonates with so many folks in the Queen City.  Our best friends just returned from a trip to Manchester for a match.  They number among the many in Charlotte who have a passion for the sport.  And, Charlotte FC, the American professional soccer club based in Charlotte, has taken off over the last few years.   Owner David Tepper was awarded the expansion franchise in December, 2019.  And, Charlotte FC readies to kick off another season this month.  In fact, Charlotte FC hosts New England Revolution at Bank of America Stadium February 25 at 7:30.  So, Axios Charlotte compiled a list of the top North Carolina spots to watch Charlotte FC.  And, whether you seek a watch party or a venue where you know the game will be on, the list helps to serve as a handy guide.

Also, if you like watching the game at home, you have options.  Apple's MLS Season Pass launched earlier this month.  And, games are available on the platform.  However, gathering together with a group of fans always proves to be a good time.  And, Charlotte has plenty of great spots to enjoy the game, grab a drink and snacks.  While Axios featured 27 places to catch the game, we spotlight a few faves from the list.  But, the full list is available here if you decide to explore further.  So, here's the condensed version of the top North Carolina spots to watch Charlotte FC as things kick off this month.

Big Ben British Restaurant and Pub

Axios features Big Ben on their list. And, I agree with this pick for sure. Big Ben is always a hot spot for watch parties. I see crowds packed in during football season, as well. The vibe is cool, and the food is awesome. They're located at 1535 Elizabeth Ave. They take their name from the famous bell in the clock tower at the houses of Parliament in London. Try the iconic Shepherd's Pie.

Belfast Mill Irish Pub

Belfast Mill Irish Pub is found at 144 Brevard Ct., Unit A in Charlotte.  It's next up on Axios' list.  They describe it as "tucked away" in Uptown.  I love the atmosphere.  And, it's especially fun strolling down the cozy alley on your way.  You feel as though you are traveling abroad.  One of our faves is just upstairs at the Cotton Room. Belfast was established in 2011 as an authentic Irish style pub, that embraces a "hole in the wall" atmosphere.

Lenny Boy Brewing Company

We have visited this popular spot on Axios' list of watch locations.  Find Lenny Boy at 3000 S. Tryon St in Charlotte.  Axios points out that it is the Mint City Collective's South End chapter watch spot.  Lenny Boy is a fun place with plenty of beers, sours and craft cocktails. They offer unique craft food, including delicious pretzels and custom sandwiches.

Carolina Beer Temple

For the next pick on Axios' list we highlight Carolina Beer Temple in Matthews at 195 N. Trade St.  Axios says Mint City Collective's Matthews chapter finds this spot for taking in matches.  Matthews is such a fun little spot.  There's a lot going on in the way of great restaurants and places to grab a beverage.  And, Carolina Beer Temple is at the heart of it all. Their draft list offers 26 rotating taps dedicated to Belgian ales and cider.

JackBeagle's

Another of Axios' picks is JackBeagle's NoDa.  It's located at 3213 N. Davidson St.  Also, find them at 1404 W. Morehead St. or 125 S. Main St. in Mt. Holly.  They describe it as a "cozy neighborhood hangout to catch matches." They take pride in fresh made award winning food and home made sauces. So, check it out, and enjoy!
