Home Alone Fun House?
Culkin saw the home on sale and “had half a mind to buy it – just for giggles.” The iconic home was used in Home Alone which was released in 1990. During an appearance at the Rosemont Theatre during a holiday screening of the movie, he brought up the idea of purchasing it and his scheme to Kevin McCallister it out.
During his appearance, Culkin stated that he had the thought to purchase the home and turn it into a “movie fun house” that would have attractions related to the iconic Christmas film. In “A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin” the actor referenced that he does watch the movie differently now as an adult with kids who can enjoy it through a different lens. He states that watching it with his children by his side has brought a new outlook to the film for him.
“I look at the movie differently now because of that,” he said. “I watch it through a different lens… I watch it with them. And they have no idea who they’re sitting next to.”
