This month is National Social Work Month. If you have ever wondered what a social worker’s role is, you have likely encountered one at some point. They are on the front lines of strengthening families and communities. You will find them in your schools, hospitals, mental health centers, nonprofits, corporations, the military, and local state and federal government.
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports there are over 750,000 social workers in the United States And social work is considered one of the fastest-growing professions in the country. We talk with a few of them from Mecklenburg County.
