Jason Aldean celebrates his 47th birthday today (2/28). Since he hit the country music scene in the early 2000s, Jason has checked all the boxes for country superstardom, including big album sales, number-one songs, and winning awards. He won the ACM’s coveted Entertainer of the Year award in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

In November, Aldean released his 11th studio album, dubbed Highway Desperado.

Jason said about the album, “I think when I look back on it, I built my career early on my live show and have been on the road touring since I was 18 years old. For us, touring is our favorite part. Getting on the bus and going town to town and playing our shows and doing our thing and seeing the fans … the title for the tour and album was really inspired from that.”

Aldean had a hand in writing three of the new album’s 14 songs and reunited with his longtime producer, Michael Knox, on the project. Jason is a co-writer on “Hungover in a Hotel,” “Breakup Breakdown,” and the album’s title track.

The project marks his first since his double album, Macon, Georgia, which was released in 2021 and 2022.

Next month, Jason is teaming up with Kid Rock to bring seven small towns in America headlining country stars. The Rock the Country Festival will play out in 2024, beginning in April, with shows in Gonzalez, Louisianna, Ashland, Kentucky, Rome, Georgia, and more.

According to the tour’s official website, Rock The Country, each show promises a lineup of artists from a curated list of hitmakers: Miranda Lambert, Hank Williams Jr., Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Brantley Gilbert are four taking part in some or each of these shows. Lee Brice, Nelly, Warren Zeiders, and Randy Houser are also on the bill.

April 5-6 — Gonzalez, La. @ Lamar-Dixon Expo Center

  • "If I Didn't Love You" (with Carrie Underwood) - (2021)

This amazing music video, which features Carrie Underwood along with Jason, won two CMT Music Awards in 2022. It won the Collaborative Video of the Year and the night’s top Video of the Year award.

Carrie told us of doing the song, “Jason asked if I would sing ‘If I Didn’t Love You’ with him. I knew I liked the song, and Jason and I have actually been trying to do things together over the years. We’ve sung together before, but we’ve never officially recorded anything together. It just kind of felt like this could be our moment.”

  • "We Back" - (2019)

Aldean said that the idea for the song came when he sent a request to Tyler Hubbard, asking for a song with “tempo” to it. He wanted a song that would serve as an upbeat, rock-driven lead single to a new album because ballads dominated the previous album (Rearview Town).

The music video is shot in black and white with epic camera angles, giving fans a fun look at the upbeat song and Jason rocking it on stage.

  • "The Only Way I Know" (with Luke Bryan and Eric Church) - (2012)

This performance video is the CMT Music Award for Collaborative Video of the Year. The song’s story tells of hard work, loyalty, small-town values, and Southern work ethic. The song’s narrators explain in the lyrics that they were raised in a small-town southern atmosphere and were taught to work hard to earn a living. They had not realized that other lifestyles existed and were practiced, and the one by which they grew up was “the only way I know.”

The music video was comprised of footage from the 46th Country Music Association Award performance.

  • "Dirt Road Anthem" - (2011)

Jason covered this Colt Ford song on his My Kinda Party album. It was nominated at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards for Best Country Solo Performance. At the 2011 CMT Music Awards, Aldean performed the song’s remix with guest rapper Ludacris, who joined Aldean onstage after the second chorus to perform his own hip-hop-style second verse.

The music video was another one shot in black and white. It showed Jason driving a Ram pickup truck through the countryside and stopping at a clearance where he reminisces about his teenage years of partying with friends around a campfire.

  • "Straight To Hell" with Darius Rucker, Charles Kelley & Luke Bryan - (2018)

The music video for this song is like a mini-movie. The song is from Darius’ album When Was the Last Time. It allows him and his country music buddies to play Old West Cowboys.

Rucker said that he chose to record the track because he had noticed its positive reaction when he first began his musical career and sang the song in bars. (It’s originally by alternative rock band Drivin’ N’ Cryin.)  He was encouraged to record it after Kelley called, suggesting that he record the song and include Kelley on guest vocals.
