Gas Prices Plummet to $1.69 Per Gallon, GasBuddy Reports
The expected drop in fuel prices due to the coronavirus pandemic has already begun as the national average has dipped down to the lowest it’s been this year. Gas prices in 35 states have seen a double-digit decrease in the past two weeks, bringing the national average down to $2.25 per gallon, according to the AAA.
“These are significant decreases in just seven to 16 days,” says AAA rep Jeanette Casselano. “AAA expects gas prices to continue trending cheaper, with the high likelihood of the national average hitting $2 per gallon before the end of March.”
Prices in South Carolina near Charlotte have already fallen below that amount. GasBuddy.com reports at least three gas stations in Kansas City, Missouri, are selling fuel for $1.69 per gallon, while one station in London, Kentucky, is offering it for just 99 cents a gallon.
