Garth Brooks’ Facebook Show Crashes Site As 3.4 Million Watch
Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood performed a live concert on Facebook last night (March 23) to help millions who watched take their minds off of the coronavirus.
In fact, so many people tuned in – 3.4-million – that the overloaded site crashed several times, prompting USA Today to ask, “Garth, did you break the internet?”!
Garth said before performing, “I gotta tell you, man…I miss it. Damn. I miss it. It’s like…all you want to do is play, you know?”
He added, “It’s a little tough right now. I just miss playing.”
Among songs that the couple sang were “Whiskey to Wine,” George Jones and Tammy Wynette’s “Golden Ring” and Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “Shallow.”
Yearwood said, “I think we should all lobby for the Medal of Honor for our first responders, our nurses, our doctors, our health care workers, our EMTs, our firemen, our police, our grocery store workers…anybody who is staying open and going into harm’s way every day.”
She added her niece as an example of someone who works in the medical field. “Love you and just thank you and God bless you,” she said, a sentiment echoed by her husband with a simple, “Amen. Amen.”
The couple would end their hour-long acoustic performance with “Amazing Grace” – as Trisha sang, Garth stopped playing guitar, closed his eyes, and let her voice carry the hymn a cappella.
The hour of music ended with the couple offering their frequent mantra with a special reminder. “Love one another,” Garth said. “We’re in this together,” Trisha added, to which he replied, “Amen. Love you guys.”
