Levine Museum In Charlotte Sells, Will Become Apartment Complex
The Levine Museum of the New South, which is located in Uptown Charlotte just sold. The museum sold for 10.75 million dollars late this week.
According to the Charlotte Observer, it was sold to a New York-based development firm. The firm has plans to turn the property into a high-rise apartment building.
The museum has announced last summer their plans to sell, but it wasn’t until this week that the property finally sold. If you haven’t had the chance to visit the Levine Museum yet, you still have time. The museum will remain open to visitors until May 15th. On that date, the museum will move to the Visual and Performing Art Center which is located on N Tryon Street.
We joke all the time about all the apartments popping up in Charlotte all the time. It is sad to see the Levine Museum selling for sure, but it seems it would have happened regardless. If I’m looking on the bright side, It is nice to see some development happening in Uptown again. We all know the traffic will be miserable while they’re building the new apartments, but I’ll be excited to see what the finished project looks like.
