North Carolina DMVs Are Expanding To Grocery Stores
According to WCNC Charlotte, North Carolina’s Department of Division of Motor Vehicle is looking for a way to reduce the number of in-person visits people make in their offices. They plan on doing this by moving business to grocery stores.
The DMV’s busiest season is summer. They have a shortage of workers currently causing long waits.
North Carolina’s DMV Commissioner Wayne Goodwin says that the majority of people who visit the DMV are there for things that could have been easily done online. A good way to reduce this is to set up stations in other locations.
These new stations should come to Charlotte sometime in October. Until they arrive, Goodwin says that you can reduce your wait time in the DMV by using their check-in system, wait time calculator, and not showing up before noon for a walk-in appointment.
How to navigate the DMV in North Carolina.
- Figure out if your service must be done in person or if it can be done online.
- If it must be done in person ask yourself if you can wait three months or more to get the service done. If yes, create an appointment.
- If not, find the nearest DMV location to you and use the walk-in wait time tool.
- Choose the visit or office type you need.
- Choose the location with the lowest wait time on the map.
- Find the QR Code at the front of the DMV office to check in and be placed in line when you visit the DMV location.
