Best Beginner Herbs To Grow Indoors

Fresh herbs are extremely helpful to have around the kitchen and can be used for almost every dish. This means that growing them is a great option for those who cook a lot or just enjoy having a little bit of life in their kitchen or dining room. Luckily, GoodNet has created a list of some of the easiest herbs to grow for those who want an easy and useful plant.

 

Mint

Mint is super easy to grow and it’s a good herb to have for baked dishes and teas. This plant loves to have moist soil but also needs good drainage so it doesn’t rot. Direct sunlight isn’t a requirement for this plant so if there isn’t a window nearby that’s not a problem! Just make sure that there is at least some natural light or that you use grow lights.

 

Oregano

Oregano is a popular herb that is used in a bunch of dishes. It should be placed in a sunny window and requires low humidity and little watering. This means it might be best to grow it away from the kitchen itself due to the humidity.

 

Thyme

Thyme is very easy for beginners to grow because it’s such a hardy plant. It has similar light, watering and humidity requirements as oregano and can even be planted in the same pot. Thyme is drought resistant so make sure you don’t water it too often.

 

Parsley

Parsley is one of the easiest herbs to grow indoors which makes it perfect for those who want something to bring life to the room. There are two different types of parsley, curly and flat. Curly parsley is great for garnishing dishes. Flat parsley is better for cooking because of its stronger flavor.

These 5 North Carolina Cities Rank Among Best For Naked Gardening

Believe it or not, May 7th is World Naked Gardening Day. Yeah, I don’t get it either. There’s a lot of stuff out there that can bite or sting you. Nevertheless, enough people seem to enjoy tending their soil in the buff that Lawnstarter has put together a list of 2022’s Best Cities for Naked Gardening.

The landscaping company looked at 100 cities based on factors like nudist population size, legality of public nudity and toplessness, and gardener-friendliness, in addition to weather conditions and safety. Topping the list is Austin, Texas, which earned a score of 67.80, and is number one for Nude Gardener-Friendliness.

Orlando, Florida isn’t far behind at #2. In fact, the home of the Magic Kingdom has the most nudists per 100,000 people, and is also the area with the highest Google search interest for “nudist” and “world naked gardening” over the last 12 months. They have the weather for it.

There appears to be quite a bit of interest in naked gardening here in North Carolina, too. Five cities across the state, including Charlotte (but not Asheville!?!), rank in the top 20 on Lawnstarter’s list. It’s not for me, but live your life. Just don’t forget the bug spray and sunscreen.
