Charlie & Debbie

Last spring, we teamed up with American Airlines, the Jamaican Department of Tourism and Sandals Resorts to give you the opportunity to vacation in one of the most beautiful and relaxing places on the planet, Sandals Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.  Well, because one trip to paradise just isn’t enough, we’ve up the ante.  Right now, on country1037fm.com we’re giving you the chance to win a trip to what I consider to be a truly magical place, the Beaches Resort in Turks & Caicos.  For the next couple of days, we’ll be doing the radio show from here and wanted to share with you just a few pics from our first 24 hours.

  • Arrival At Turks & Caicos

So, I shot this as kind of a throwaway just to get a pic of the land stands that were used to disembark the American Airlines flight.  You don’t see them very often anymore.  BUT, look at those clouds tho.  I mean, how cool is that?!

  • Arrival At Beaches Resort

When we were in Jamaica, we stayed at Sandals Ochi.  Sandals Resorts are strictly for adults only.  No kids.  Beaches Resorts, however, are for the entire family (there are water parks, kids camps and activities, nanny services, etc.)  Beaches Turks & Caicos, located on a pristine 12-mile-long beach, includes 5 villages and 5-star service all in one. Play in the crystal-clear seas, dine at any of the 21 specialty restaurants, sip on premium brand cocktails, and enjoy the endless activities that bring everyone a little closer together. And it’s all included. All the time.

  • "This Cannot Be A Real Place"

After a long day of travel (alarm went off at 2:30am), when we arrived at Beaches in the early afternoon, the first thing we wanted to do was head to the beach.  It is beyond beautiful.  The words that came out of my mouth?  “This cannot be a real place.”

  • So, What Kind Of Day Is It At Beaches?

This made me laugh.  I got to thinking about Steve Eudelson, Larry Sprinkle, et. al. on television.  All the fancy equipment and terms they utilize to forecast and discuss the weather.  This is simple enough for anyone to understand, and it does the job, yes?

  • I Promise, We're Working

If there’s one thing that I can say I am a huge fan of anytime I see one, it’s a swim-up-bar (especially at an all-inclusive resort like Beaches!).  And they are EVERYWHERE at Beaches.  I mean, is there anything better than a beautiful pool with tropical drinks at your whim along with a pretty girl?  C’mon…how lucky am I?!  Oh, and did I mention this is a “business trip?” <g>  We are actually doing the show from here this week, so technically this was homework so that we’d have something to talk about.

  • Mic Drop Sunset

On our way to dinner last night, I was stopped in my tracks when I looked to the west and was greeted with this.  I mean, this is a mic drop moment in terms of convincing you how great Beaches Turks & Caicos is, right?!  You’re heading to sign up to win this trip we’re offering immediately, right?!

  • Our Turks & Caicos Squad

You don’t think the powers-that-be in our company would send Debbie and me off to paradise without adult supervision, do you?  Of course not!  Melanie is our social media goddess that doubles as one of my favorite people.  Fun fact:  Melanie was “The Baby New Year.”  Like she was THE first baby born in Charlotte on New Year’s Day.  How cool is that?!

  • Did I Mention The Food At Beaches Turks & Caicos?

With 21 specialty restaurants on property, there is no need to “go off the reservation” to feed yourself or your family.  Again, remember Beaches is an all-inclusive resort.  On night one we had a chef’s dinner highlighting some dishes from several of the restaurants.  You can never go wrong with filet mignon and lobster tail, can you?
