Waco
Some stories hit too close to home.
I (Charlie) graduated from Baylor in 1992 and Debbie and I were both working in the town of Waco, Texas, in 1993 when the infamous Brand Davidian standoff/tragedy with the ATF took place.
I really haven’t thought much about it over the years. And, time has a way of making people lose memory of events that occur (after all, it’s been almost a quarter century).
“Waco” is a six part mini-series debuting in early 2018 on the Paramount Network starring Taylor Kitsch and Michael Shannon. It professes to provide insight to the events as never before. It’s based on two biographies, A Place Called Waco, by Branch Davidian David Thibodeau, one of the nine survivors of the final fire on April 19, 1993, and Stalling for Time: My Life as an FBI Hostage Negotiator, written by the FBI’s Head of Crisis Negotiation Unit Gary Noesner.
I can’t say I’m looking forward to seeing this, but I also can’t say I won’t give it a peek either.
